Therapy for the years that feel like a lot

Meadowlark Counseling works with teenagers and young adults across Madison, Wisconsin — and with the parents trying to figure it out alongside them.

How to Get Started

  1. A fifteen-minute call

You tell me what is going on in whatever order it comes out. I tell you honestly whether I am the right person. Nobody signs anything.

  2. The first session

Mostly questions, some of them dull ones about sleep and school. By the end we name two or three things worth working on.

  3. Finding a rhythm

Weekly at first, then less often as things steady. Around week six we stop and check whether this is actually working.

Meet Riley Hart, LPC

  • Fifteen years of this work, most of it with people under thirty.
  • Trained in CBT and ACT, and willing to explain what either one means in plain English.
  • Will not tell a teenager to delete their apps and take up running.
  • Keeps parents informed without turning their kid into a case file.
  • Says so directly when someone would be better served by another clinician.
